OOU Suspends Lectures After Student Killed In Robbery Attack

Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, has suspended academic activities for a day following the killing of a student during an armed robbery in the host community.

The decision was taken to allow mourning and restore calm on campus.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday when armed men attacked parts of Ago Iwoye, leading to the death of the student.
University authorities confirmed the development in an official statement issued by the institution’s management.

The Vice Chancellor, acting on behalf of the university senate, ordered the suspension of lectures scheduled for June 18, 2026.
The management said the break was necessary in honour of the deceased and to support students affected by the loss.
The institution expressed sadness over the incident and sent condolences to the bereaved family.
