Tinubu’s Removal Won’t Solve Problems – Activist Nwapa

Human rights activist Francis Nwapa has said that removing President Bola Tinubu from office would not by itself fix Nigeria’s economic and social problems.

He argued that the crisis affecting citizens is rooted in a wider system driven by political and economic elites across party lines.

He made the position known in a statement issued on June 17, 2026, where he responded to rising public campaigns calling for the removal of the president and the ruling party.

Nwapa said such slogans reflect public anger but do not address the deeper causes of hardship in the country.

According to him, Nigeria’s major challenges, including unemployment, inflation, insecurity and poverty, have continued across different administrations because they are tied to long-standing economic policies shared by successive governments.

He added that political parties in the country often represent the same class interests despite different labels.

Nwapa called for a broader movement built around workers and ordinary citizens rather than competition between political parties.

He said real change would require challenging the entire system of economic control rather than focusing on individual leaders or administrations.
