Officials said the participants underwent various stages of assessment and reform before their return.

The former fighters were enrolled in rehabilitation programmes designed to prepare them for civilian life.

The process included counselling, vocational training and other activities aimed at helping them become productive members of society.

Authorities said the programme was intended to reduce the risk of a return to violence.

State officials explained that the reintegration was carried out after security agencies and relevant stakeholders reviewed the participants.

Community engagement and monitoring measures have also been put in place to support their transition. The government said the approach forms part of wider efforts to rebuild areas affected by insurgency.

Borno authorities expressed hope that the programme would contribute to lasting peace across the state.

They said continued support for rehabilitation and reintegration remains important to restoring normal life in affected communities.

The government also pledged to work with partners to strengthen recovery and development efforts.
