Former Deputy Senate President Omo Agege Dumps APC

Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has resigned from the All Progressives Congress after losing the Delta Central senatorial primary ahead of the 2027 elections.

His resignation letter, dated May 22, 2026, was addressed to the APC ward chairman in Orogun Ward 2, Ughelli North, Delta State. He said the decision takes immediate effect.

Where the political shake-up happened was Delta State, following tensions inside the APC after the senatorial primaries.

Omo-Agege said recent developments in the party no longer aligned with his political goals and those of his supporters.

He added that remaining in the party would not help him pursue the interests of Delta Central.

The Reason he left the APC was linked to his defeat in the party’s primary election. Senator Ede Dafinone secured 116,252 votes to win the contest, while Omo-Agege polled 3,643 votes.

The outcome exposed growing divisions within the party and weakened the former deputy senate president’s position in Delta politics.

How his next political move may unfold is already generating attention, as reports indicate he is preparing to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress.

Political associates said many of his supporters have already moved to the party ahead of his expected defection. The move is believed to be part of plans to continue his senatorial ambition outside the APC.
