Thugs Storm APC Primary Venue

Suspected political thugs on Thursday besieged the All Progressives Congress state secretariat in Ilorin, Kwara State, during the party’s governorship primary.

The group reportedly blocked access to the venue while backing a preferred aspirant.

The attackers, said to be loyal to an aspirant, gathered in large numbers and chanted war songs around the secretariat.

They were also heard demanding support for Seriki-Gambari while warning against any other outcome.

Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, who was sent by the party leadership to oversee the primary, was reportedly trapped inside the building as tensions rose.

Movement in and out of the premises was blocked, causing panic among delegates and officials.

Security operatives were later deployed to the area in an attempt to restore order as the situation became more tense.

The APC governorship primary is part of ongoing party exercises ahead of the 2027 general elections.
