Diaspora Group Defends Jonathan Against Criticism
The Goodluckans 2027 Diaspora Leadership Council has defended former President Goodluck Jonathan after recent criticism from social media commentator VeryDarkMan.
The group described the attacks on the former leader as unfair and disrespectful.
In a statement signed by coordinator Eliana Melekwe, the organisation said Jonathan’s contribution to Nigeria’s democracy should not be ignored.
The council said it represents Nigerians abroad, including professionals and business owners committed to national unity and democratic growth.
The group praised Jonathan’s leadership style and recalled his decision to peacefully concede defeat during the 2015 presidential election.
It said his famous statement that “my political ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian” helped calm political tension at the time.
The council also urged public figures and online influencers to be more responsible when discussing national leaders.
It maintained that Jonathan remains respected in Nigeria and beyond for his role in promoting peace, democracy and stability.
