Makinde Launches Presidential Bid

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Thursday officially declared his ambition to contest the 2027 presidential election under a new alliance involving the Peoples Democratic Party and the Allied Peoples’ Movement.

The declaration took place at a massive rally in Ibadan attended by party loyalists and political leaders from different parts of the country.

Makinde said Nigeria was moving dangerously towards a one-party system and warned that democracy could suffer if opposition parties failed to unite.

He insisted there was no recognised PDP-APM coalition and argued that Makinde’s presidential ambition had already failed before the race fully began.
