Makinde’s Presidential Ambition Dead On Arrival – Wike
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has dismissed Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s reported 2027 presidential ambition, describing it as politically weak from the start.
He spoke in Abuja on Thursday while inspecting ongoing road projects across satellite communities.
The remarks came shortly after Makinde addressed supporters at a PDP and APM rally in Ibadan, where he criticised the current state of the country and accused leaders of failing Nigerians.
Wike quickly rejected claims of any alliance between the PDP and APM.
According to the minister, the Independent National Electoral Commission has no record of any formal coalition between both parties.
He insisted that the PDP remains focused on presenting its own presidential candidate for the next election.
Wike also linked Makinde’s political moves to personal ambition, saying the governor was using the APM platform to pursue his presidential goal.
He added that the PDP screening process already showed the party was operating independently ahead of 2027.
