FG Announces New JAMB Cut Off

The Federal Government has approved 150 as the minimum admission cut-off mark for universities and nursing colleges across Nigeria ahead of the 2026 admission exercise.

The decision was announced by Education Minister Tunji Alausa during the admission policy meeting organised by Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board in Abuja.

Authorities also fixed 100 as the minimum score for admissions into polytechnics, warning that institutions admitting candidates below approved benchmarks would face sanctions.

The government further directed schools conducting screening exercises not to charge candidates above ₦2,000.

At the meeting, stakeholders approved a 60:40 admission ratio for science and arts courses in conventional universities and colleges of education.

Specialised universities and polytechnics were directed to adopt an 80:20 ratio in favour of science-related programmes.

The yearly policy meeting was held after the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination to decide admission guidelines for tertiary institutions nationwide.

Schools are expected to submit their proposed admission requirements before final approval by JAMB and education authorities.
