APC Disqualifies Fubara Allies
The All Progressives Congress screening committee has disqualified former factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Victor Oko Jumbo, and 64 other aspirants from participating in the party’s state assembly primaries ahead of the 2027 elections.
The development has stirred fresh political tension within the Rivers APC.
Most of the affected aspirants are believed to be loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, deepening the growing power struggle within the state’s political landscape.
The disqualification is already fueling claims of internal targeting and factional control inside the party structure.
The screening exercise comes amid the prolonged political crisis between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who remains a major influence in Rivers politics and within the APC structure in the state.
The latest move is expected to further widen the divide between both camps.
Party officials are yet to release detailed reasons for the mass disqualification, but political observers believe the outcome could shape the battle for control of Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections.
