ADC Plans Major Abuja Convention

The African Democratic Congress has announced that more than 3,000 delegates will gather in Abuja on April 14 for its national convention as preparations move forward despite venue challenges.

The party confirmed the event will hold at Rainbow Hotel after failed attempts to secure other locations.

Organisers said arrangements are in place to ensure a smooth exercise.

The update came from party spokesman Bola Abdullahi, who explained that requests to use Eagle Square and the Moshood Abiola National Stadium were unsuccessful.

He described the situation as frustrating but insisted it would not stop the convention. The party maintained that its activities would continue without disruption.

Party officials said recent ward and state congresses were conducted peacefully, producing new executives across the country.

They noted that the process reflects the party’s commitment to internal democracy and lawful conduct. The inauguration of the newly elected officials has been scheduled for May 12 or a later date to be announced.

The convention comes amid ongoing internal disputes within the party following leadership changes linked to David Mark.

Despite the crisis and legal battles, the party leadership said members remain focused on strengthening the organisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
