Mutfwang Explains Armored Vehicle Use After Jos Attack

Caleb Mutfwang has defended his decision to address residents from an armoured vehicle after the Palm Sunday attack in Jos.

He said the move was driven by security concerns and the need to speak clearly to a large, tense crowd during the crisis.

Speaking on Channels Television, the governor explained that the elevated position helped him communicate effectively.

He insisted the situation was calm enough for engagement and said residents reassured him of his safety while urging him to come closer.

“From the height I stood, part of the reason they put me in the ATC was for me to gain height in order to address the crowd,” he explained.

Mutfwang also criticised social media reports, saying they misrepresented his actions by showing only brief clips.

He added that he rushed back from Abuja after hearing of the attack and went straight to the scene, where residents had demanded his presence before victims could be evacuated.
