Wike Backs PDP Convention

In Abuja, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, said the Peoples Democratic Party will hold its national convention on March 29 and 30 as planned.

He added that efforts to settle internal disputes will continue after the gathering.

Wike said the party is preparing to prove its strength in the 2027 elections and dismissed the appeal by the Tanimu Turaki group, saying it will not affect the convention.

He spoke after inspecting the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Velodrome, the venue for the event.
He explained that disagreements are normal in a large party and said leaders are ready to engage aggrieved members.
According to him, the focus is to protect the party’s unity while creating room for all interests to be heard.
Wike also said zoning arrangements have been agreed, with key positions shared across regions.
He added that preparations are almost complete, with about 2,500 delegates expected, as the party moves to present a united front ahead of the convention.
