Tension Over Fayose Son Assembly Bid
Hakeem Jamiu, a member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly representing Irepodun-Ifelodun Constituency II, has dismissed claims that he backed Boluwatife Fayose as the consensus candidate for the area’s assembly seat.
The clarification came after reports circulated suggesting that Jamiu had thrown his support behind Boluwatife, the son of former Ekiti governor Ayodele Fayose, ahead of the political contest in the constituency.
Jamiu said the claims about a consensus arrangement were inaccurate and did not reflect his position.
He maintained that no such endorsement had been made on his part regarding the potential candidacy.
The lawmaker stressed that political processes within the constituency should remain open and fair, as discussions around possible contenders for the seat continue within party structures and the wider political space.
