Senator Natasha Calls Out Viral Scam Video
In Nigeria, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has raised alarm over a viral video circulating online that falsely shows her endorsing an investment scheme.
The lawmaker representing Kogi Central said the clip is fake and warned the public not to trust it.
The video began spreading on social media in recent days, prompting the senator to respond on Sunday.
She explained that fraudsters edited an old interview she had with television journalist Seun Okinbaloye and turned it into a promotional clip for a fraudulent investment platform.
According to her, the footage was manipulated to make it appear as though she was advertising the scheme.
She said “Although the manipulated clip appears to feature my voice and image, it is entirely fabricated and should not be trusted.”
The senator urged Nigerians to ignore the video and avoid any investment linked to it.
She also called on the public to report the page sharing the content and reminded citizens to remain cautious online as cases of digital scams continue to grow.
