IPOB Raises Alarm Over Bomb Photos

In Nigeria, the Indigenous People of Biafra has accused the Nigerian Army of using photographs from a 2024 bombing incident in Oyo State to falsely link the group to violence in the South East.

The allegation was made in a statement released on Sunday by the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful.

The group said the images were allegedly circulated online by Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, acting deputy director of army public relations for the 82 Division, who claimed they were recovered from a bomb factory connected to IPOB during Operation UDO KA in Imo State.

According to the statement, the photos were originally tied to incidents in Oke Ogun, Oyo State.
IPOB maintained that the development forms part of a broader plan by the federal government to damage the group’s reputation and justify military actions in the South East.
The movement also alleged that certain Igbo political figures were working with authorities to push the narrative against it.
The group added that the situation is unfolding as legal proceedings involving its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, approach a crucial stage.
IPOB insisted it remains committed to peaceful self determination while calling for an independent probe into the claims.
