Wike Elevates FCT Traditional Rulers

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced the upgrade of traditional stools across the FCT.

The decision was made public during a visit to Abaji Area Council where he met with community leaders, residents and traditional rulers.

Under the new arrangement, all second class traditional rulers in the territory have been elevated to first class status, while third class chiefs have been moved to second class.

Wike said the change recognises the role of traditional leaders in maintaining peace and preserving cultural values in their communities.
During the visit, the minister also commended residents of Abaji for their support during the recent council elections.
He said the people delivered strong backing for candidates aligned with President Bola Tinubu during the February 21 poll.
Wike further promised development projects for the area, including a new palace for the Ona of Abaji, repairs to a troubled bridge and work on abandoned roads.
He also assured residents that the FCT University of Science and Technology in Abaji would soon begin full operations.
