Abuja Court Postpones Malami Terrorism Case

Abubakar Malami’s bid for bail was stalled on Friday after the Federal High Court in Abuja failed to sit due to a declared work free day, pushing the matter to February 27.

He added, “The judge had earlier adjourned for bail consideration, but court officials surprisingly announced today is a work-free day. Proceedings have now been rescheduled to February 27, 2026.”
The setback means the former justice minister will remain in custody until the next hearing.
Malami was arraigned on February 3 alongside his son, Abdulaziz Abubakar Malami, before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik after the DSS filed a five count charge against them.
The agency accused him of aiding terrorism financing and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. Both men pleaded not guilty.
The judge had earlier refused an oral bail request, directing that a written application be filed before any consideration.
