New Abduction Shocks Benue State
Six travellers were kidnapped on Monday morning along the Naka–Makurdi road in Benue State, as armed men attacked vehicles moving through the area.
The incident happened during early hours, leaving families in panic.
The gunmen reportedly stopped the victims and took them away to an unknown location. Shortly after, the abductors contacted relatives and demanded ₦100 million as ransom for their release.
The attack has renewed fears over safety on the busy road, which links several communities and serves as a major route into Makurdi.
Residents say cases of abduction have become more frequent in recent months.
Security agencies are yet to give full details on efforts to rescue the victims, but locals are calling for stronger patrols to prevent further attacks.
