He said democracy must move beyond elections and produce clear results in daily life. In his view, roads, hospitals, schools, power and security are the real proof that governance is working.

Without these, he warned, citizens lose faith and democracy becomes empty routine.

Wike argued that Nigeria’s setbacks are rooted in poor leadership rather than a lack of plans or funds.

He praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for tough reforms such as fuel subsidy removal, saying difficult choices are sometimes needed to protect long term national interest.

He pointed to ongoing projects in Abuja as evidence that firm leadership can change a city’s direction.

According to him, the Federal Capital Territory is being renewed through road expansion, urban order and revived public works, while universities must keep shaping leaders who value service and accountability.
