Wike Still Controls Rivers Political Structure

A fresh political argument has erupted in Rivers State after Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, declared that his principal still controls the state’s political structure.

He argued that these factors leave Governor Siminalayi Fubara without a strong hold on the machinery of governance in the state.
According to him, the governor lacks the political strength needed to assert himself independently. He described Fubara as a weak politician who does not command loyalty across key political institutions that shape decision-making in Rivers State.
Olayinka went further to say that Fubara owes his position to Wike’s political backing and should acknowledge that reality.
He added that the governor should “prostrate” before the FCT minister, insisting that Wike remains the dominant force behind Rivers State politics.
