FCT Doctors Praises Wike Over Payment Of Hazard Allowance

Doctors working under the Federal Capital Territory Administration have praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for approving long-delayed welfare payments, following months of agitation within the health sector.

The commendation came from the Association of Resident Doctors in the FCT, which acknowledged the payment of 13 months’ hazard allowance arrears alongside one month wage award for its members.

The group said the move brought relief to doctors who had waited years for the entitlements.
The appreciation was conveyed in a formal letter dated January 15, 2026, signed by the association’s president, George Ebong, and its general secretary, Yusuf Israel Lissa.
The doctors described the payments as a clear sign of leadership that values fairness and recognises the risks faced by healthcare workers.
Beyond the minister, the doctors also acknowledged the roles played by key officials within the FCT administration who were involved in the process.
The association reaffirmed its readiness to maintain cooperation with the government in strengthening healthcare services across the capital.
