The New Nigeria Peoples Party has dismissed reports that a Kano High Court reversed the dissolution of its party executives in the state, insisting the decision of its national leadership remains valid and binding.

The party’s national leadership reacted on Wednesday in Abuja after reports emerged that a court allegedly stopped the dissolution of NNPP executives at the state, local government and ward levels in Kano. The party said it had not been served with any court papers and described the reports as rumours lacking legal standing.

The NNPP explained that the dissolution was carried out by its National Working Committee in line with the party’s constitution, adding that a court cannot overturn a completed internal decision of a political party through an interim order.
The party also argued that issues relating to party leadership and structure are internal matters, which courts have consistently ruled as non-justiciable. It said any attempt by a court to interfere would amount to a misuse of judicial powers.

NNPP warned that if the reported order is later confirmed, it would take immediate legal steps to challenge it and ensure it does not stand, stressing that the dissolution of its Kano executives remains in force.
The party further cautioned that as the country moves closer to the 2027 elections, the judiciary must act with restraint and professionalism, adding that it would not hesitate to petition the National Judicial Council if any judicial officer is found to have acted outside the law.
