Tension rose in Rivers State on Thursday as a factional PDP caretaker chairman, Dr Nname Ewor, accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of misleading party members and walking away during a heated political struggle.

He said the governor made bold claims, gained support, then switched sides for personal interest.
The dispute, he explained, began in Port Harcourt within Fubara’s first year in office after a clash with members of the State House of Assembly. The disagreement later led to the bombing of the assembly complex, throwing the state into fear and uncertainty.

During that period, he said PDP members were made to believe the governor could break free from the influence of former governor and FCT minister Nyesom Wike. Instead, another peace move arranged by the president failed quietly, with its terms kept away from the public.

The situation worsened, Ewor added, when Fubara defected to the APC in December 2025. He said the governor claimed the president would compel lawmakers to pass the budget and pressure Wike to support his re-election, a move he described as damaging to trust and order.
Ewor called on the governor to publicly explain all agreements reached before the emergency rule was lifted. He said Rivers people deserve full details ahead of the 2027 elections, while declaring his support for Wike and President Tinubu’s second-term bid.
