Ewor Dumps Fubara Camps PDP With Wike

Rivers politics shifted on Friday when Dr Nname Ewor, a former loyalist of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, announced the collapse of his faction of the Peoples Democratic Party into the camp backed by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

The move was made during Wike’s thank-you visit to Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government Area.
The decision came after months of tension within the party, following the political crisis between Fubara and key power blocs in the state. Ewor said his group could no longer continue on its own path and chose to align with the Aaron Chukwemeka-led caretaker committee.

He explained that the shift was driven by loss of confidence in the governor, accusing Fubara of failing to keep agreements reached during peace efforts led by President Bola Tinubu. According to him, repeated mediation showed a lack of trustworthiness in leadership.
Ewor also dismissed claims that Wike had worked to frustrate Fubara’s administration, insisting that the minister had not interfered with the governor’s office. He maintained that the internal crisis was caused by broken commitments, not intimidation.

The announcement was welcomed by leaders and supporters in the local government, who praised Wike for past development projects and political support. They pledged continued loyalty and described the minister as a unifying force in Rivers politics.
Wike, in his response, thanked the community for its support and called for unity across party lines. He said Rivers people were now focused on backing President Tinubu’s agenda, stressing cooperation over party rivalry.
