Residents of Adanla community in Igbaja Ward 2, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State were thrown into fear on Friday evening when armed bandits attacked the area, barely a day after Christmas celebrations.

The attack happened around 7pm as the assailants stormed the usually quiet community in large numbers, shooting sporadically and forcing their way into homes while residents tried to flee for safety.
During the invasion, seven people were taken away by the attackers, while several others were injured by gunfire. A young girl was reported to have suffered severe injuries and is currently receiving medical care.
The assailants moved from house to house, dragging victims out and leaving behind panic, grief and confusion. Families were left shattered as the attackers disappeared with their captives into the surrounding areas.

As of the time of reporting, it was unclear how the attackers entered the community or whether security agencies had begun rescue efforts. No arrests had been confirmed, and official statements were yet to be issued by the police.
The incident has renewed worries about rising insecurity in Kwara State and the North-Central region, where communities continue to face kidnappings and violent attacks, even during festive periods meant for peace and celebration.
