Osun APC Alleges Clampdown as Adeleke Camp Pushes Back

In Osun State, the All Progressives Congress has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of using state power to limit opposition activities ahead of the 2026 governorship election, raising fresh tension in the political space.

The APC says the issue centres on Osogbo, where it claims state authorities have created barriers that make it hard for the party to campaign freely, especially through outdoor publicity.
According to the opposition, instructions were allegedly passed to the state signage agency to block the approval and display of APC billboards along key routes in the capital, a move the party describes as unfair and aimed at weakening its candidate’s visibility.
The APC argues that such actions tilt the field in favour of the ruling party and reflect fear of growing competition as the election season draws closer, warning that democracy suffers when state power is used this way.

In response, the Osun State Signage and Advertisement Agency dismissed the claims, saying its actions are routine regulatory measures guided by law and not targeted at any party. The agency insists the same rules apply to all political groups without exception.
The state government maintains that governance, not politics, remains its focus, pointing to ongoing projects and worker welfare as proof of public support, while urging parties to respect institutions and campaign within legal boundaries as the election approaches.
