Military officers and civilians accused of plotting to remove President Bola Tinubu from office have been held in detention for about three months, according to security sources familiar with the case.

The arrests were carried out in Abuja by the Defence Intelligence Agency, which is handling the investigation into the alleged plot. More than 50 people are said to be in custody, drawn from both the armed forces and civilian population.
Those detained include senior officers from the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air Force, arrested after weeks of covert surveillance and coordinated operations by military intelligence units.
Family members say they have been denied access to their relatives since the arrests, leaving them without information on their condition or the progress of the investigation.

The probe is being overseen by the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lieutenant General Emmanuel Parker Undiandeye, who was reappointed to the role in October 2025 and leads Nigeria’s primary military intelligence agency.
Security sources say the investigation is ongoing, with authorities maintaining silence on possible charges, while concerns continue to grow over prolonged detention without family access.
