PDP BoT Members Reject Suspension Claims

Some members of the Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustees have rejected claims that they were suspended, saying the action has no legal backing within the party.
The dispute involves a communiqué issued after the 83rd meeting of the PDP Board of Trustees, which announced the suspension of certain members and referred them to the National Working Committee for disciplinary action.

The affected BoT members, through their lawyers, C.T. Mue and Associates, say the PDP constitution limits the board’s role to advisory and reconciliatory duties, with no power to discipline or suspend anyone.
They argued that only the PDP National Convention, acting on the recommendation of the National Executive Committee, can remove a BoT member, and said no such process has taken place in their case.

The members also questioned the authority of former BoT chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, to issue the communiqué, insisting his tenure had expired and that he lacked the standing to convene meetings or speak for the board.
They warned that the communiqué is unconstitutional and legally ineffective, called for its immediate withdrawal, and urged the public to ignore any claims of suspension arising from it.
