Senator Sunday Karimi warned that removing subjects like Computer Studies, Civic Education, and Trade subjects could lead to widespread failure, as students would now be forced to sit for unfamiliar subjects without prior teaching. Senate President Godswill Akpabio also questioned why essential subjects such as Computer Studies and Civic Education were removed.
The Senate has referred the matter to the Committee on Basic and Secondary Education, which is expected to report back within two weeks.
