The announcement came through a statement issued by the minister’s aide, Lere Olayinka.

The change followed ongoing reviews of agencies under the FCT administration, as officials moved to strengthen operations in key sectors, including revenue management. Ango’s exit marked the first major shift within the tax agency since the start of Wike’s latest round of administrative adjustments.

The minister directed the most senior officer in the FCT-IRS to take charge immediately to ensure that the agency continues its work without interruption. The instruction was issued to avoid any leadership vacuum that could slow ongoing tax collection and administrative duties.

Officials within the agency spent the day adjusting to the new directive, as departments prepared to work under temporary leadership until a substantive head is appointed. Workers were also reminded to maintain routine operations during the transition.

The FCT administration has yet to announce the timeline for naming a new chairman, but the switch signals renewed focus on improving revenue systems within the territory. The move is expected to influence how the tax agency operates in the coming months.

Residents and businesses in the FCT continue to watch how the shake-up will shape tax administration and service delivery as the agency enters a new phase under fresh supervision.
