Former Jigawa State governor Sule Lamido has told his supporters when he expects the Peoples Democratic Party to resolve its internal crisis.

He addressed them in Kano after party officials and members of the former PDP Local Council Forum visited him to show support.

Lamido explained that the party’s troubles have grown worse in recent months but said the issues can still be fixed if members are ready to close ranks. He urged his supporters to stay calm for the next 10 days while the party works toward a settlement.

He pushed for the cancellation of the Ibadan convention and called for a caretaker committee to steer the party until new primaries are held. According to him, the party lost its original character after newcomers gained influence and sidelined founding members.
He noted that his decision to go to court was driven by a desire to protect the party’s legacy and defend his right to contest for national chairman. He said the legal action was aimed at keeping the PDP grounded in due process.
Members of the visiting forum expressed frustration over what they described as unfair treatment of Lamido by the current leadership. They argued that the refusal to allow him contest for national chairman weakened trust within the party.
They also urged him to consider another political platform, claiming the PDP no longer functions as a strong national force because of deep factions and ongoing rancour.
