Atiku, who ran for president under the Peoples Democratic Party in 2023, told supporters that the APC had brought hardship, poverty, and insecurity to Nigerians. He said the party had failed the country and must be voted out.

Atiku has a long record of changing political platforms. He joined the APC in 2014 ahead of the 2015 election and contested the presidential primary, losing to Muhammadu Buhari. He returned to the PDP in 2017 and became its presidential candidate in both the 2019 and 2023 elections.

His formal registration with the ADC ends months of speculation over his next political move and the internal negotiations that had delayed his entry into the party.
