Tinubu Sends Shettima To Kebbi After Schoolgirls Abduction

President Bola Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel to Kebbi State to meet families of the abducted schoolgirls and reassure them that the federal government is working to bring the children home.

The visit comes after armed groups attacked a boarding school in Maga and took away several students.

The incident happened despite earlier intelligence pointing to a possible strike. Security agencies had warned about movements of the attackers in the area, but the bandits still reached the school. The President expressed concern over the breach and the fear it has caused among parents and residents.

The federal government acted by assigning the Vice President to deliver its message of support and assurance. Shettima is expected to meet the state government and the parents to explain the steps being taken to rescue the girls and strengthen security around schools.

Tinubu responded to the attack by ordering security agencies to move quickly and locate the children. He said the rescue effort must be carried out without delay and called on all security formations to close ranks and coordinate their operations more effectively.

The tragedy deepened after the military confirmed the death of Brigadier General Musa Uba and other soldiers in a separate clash with insurgents in Borno State. Tinubu sent his condolences to the military and the families of the fallen officers, describing their deaths as a painful loss to the country.

Communities in areas facing repeated attacks were urged to share information that could help security forces prevent further incidents. Tinubu noted that troops and operatives cannot carry out their duties effectively without the support of residents living in vulnerable places.
