Fayose Unleashes Fiery Attack On Obasanjo After 65th Birthday Visit

Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti State, has stirred fresh controversy after sending a blistering message to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, turning what should have been a simple note of appreciation into another round of their long-running feud.

The clash began after Obasanjo attended Fayose’s 65th birthday celebration in Lagos. On Sunday evening, Fayose sent what appeared to be a “thank you” text, but the content quickly took a hostile turn. The message was later released to the public by Obasanjo’s media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, who said the former president was surprised by the tone.

In the text, Fayose launched personal attacks on Obasanjo, accusing him of making inappropriate comments during the event and mocking his age and mental state. The former governor revived old insults, claiming Obasanjo “belongs in the zoo” and insisting that he stayed silent during the party only to avoid a public scene. He also demanded the return of money he said Obasanjo acknowledged receiving.

Obasanjo responded briefly but pointedly. In his reply, he said the message spoke for itself and revealed Fayose’s true character. He added that the money mentioned had been returned through the same person who delivered it, still untouched.

The exchange has reopened a rivalry that stretches back nearly two decades. Their dispute dates to 2006, when Fayose was removed from office under a cloud of political tension his camp blamed on Obasanjo. Since then, both men have traded barbs over national issues, party politics, and personal grievances.

This latest confrontation, delivered just hours after a birthday celebration meant to mark a milestone, stands out as one of the most explosive yet — a reminder that the bitterness between the two political figures remains deeply rooted and far from resolved.
