Omisore on Thursday purchased the ₦50 million Nomination and Expression of Interest forms at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, marking the beginning of what is expected to be an intense contest for the party’s ticket. The development was confirmed by the Deputy National Organising Secretary of the party, Nze Duru, who said Omisore was the first to pick the forms.

Arriving at the secretariat with a crowd of supporters in branded attire, Omisore said his decision to contest was driven by a sense of duty to rebuild Osun State and restore confidence in governance. He said his campaign would focus on leadership renewal and economic recovery for the state.

The development comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2026 election, with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party preparing for a tough re-election battle. Governor Ademola Adeleke, seeking a second term, has downplayed internal disputes within the PDP, describing them as normal party matters and expressing confidence in victory.

The APC had earlier announced that its Osun governorship primary would hold on December 13, 2025, ahead of the August 8, 2026 election. According to the timetable released in August, only members with up-to-date dues as of February 2025 will be eligible to participate in the primaries.

With Omisore’s declaration, the political race in Osun is set to heat up, as more aspirants are expected to join the contest in the coming weeks.
