President Bola Tinubu has mourned the death of Major General Abdullahi Mohammed Adangba (rtd.), a former Chief of Staff to Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.

Adangba, who died at the age of 86, was a key figure in shaping Nigeria’s security structure, particularly in the creation of the National Security Organisation (NSO), which later evolved into the State Security Service (SSS), National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA).

He also served as the military governor of the defunct Benue-Plateau State from 1975 to 1976.

In a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described Adangba as a disciplined, loyal, and patriotic officer who made lasting contributions to Nigeria’s governance and national security.
The President said Adangba embodied humility, integrity, and a strong sense of duty throughout his service, noting that his influence on the State House operations and the Presidency would be remembered.
Tinubu extended condolences to the family of the late general, the government and people of Kwara State, and the Nigerian Armed Forces over the loss of what he described as a distinguished son of Nigeria.
