Ortom Vows To Rebuild PDP To Retake Benue In 2027

Former Benue State governor Samuel Ortom has pledged to strengthen the Peoples Democratic Party to reclaim power in the state during the 2027 elections.

Speaking at his residence in Makurdi while meeting with members of the PDP G-14 and other key stakeholders from Zones A and B, Ortom reaffirmed his loyalty to the party and dismissed rumours of his planned defection. He said the PDP would emerge stronger and more united despite recent defections to the ruling party.

Ortom, who ruled out personal ambition in 2027, said he would fully support the party’s candidates and urged aspirants to consult widely and remain focused on rebuilding the PDP at all levels.

Leaders of the G-14 forum, led by Dr. Laha Dzever, expressed their loyalty to Ortom and commended his leadership. The PDP deputy chairman in the state, Hon. Azua Ashongo, also called for credible candidates to ensure the party’s success in future elections.

Other party figures, including Ambassador Chive Kaave and Senator Fred Orti, pledged the support of members from Zones A and B, promising to align with Ortom’s vision to return the PDP to power.

The meeting drew serving and former members of the PDP National Executive Committee, Board of Trustees, local government chairmen, national delegates, and other prominent stakeholders.
