Ningi Says Ekiti PDP Is Rebuilding For 2026 Victory

The Peoples Democratic Party is restructuring its Ekiti State chapter to reclaim power in the 2026 governorship election, according to Senator Abdul Ningi, who chairs the PDP Congress Committee.

Ningi disclosed this in Ado-Ekiti during the inauguration of ad hoc delegates ahead of the party’s governorship primaries slated for November 8, 2025. The delegates, drawn from all 177 wards across 16 local governments, consist of three members per ward — two men and one woman.

He said the delegates’ duties include supervising the primaries, ensuring proper documentation, and promoting transparency throughout the process.

Addressing aspirants and party leaders, Ningi urged unity among members and called on the four governorship aspirants to work together to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress.

He said the PDP was learning from its past mistakes and rebuilding its structure to regain the trust of Ekiti voters. “We want to reposition the PDP and follow due process. This party is beyond personalities, and we are committed to reviving it,” he said.

Ningi described the PDP as a national party that has produced leaders from different regions, adding that the same unity and inclusiveness must be restored in Ekiti.

State party chairman, Tunji Odeyemi, also appealed for peace and cooperation among members, describing the nomination of delegates as key to the success of the primaries.

He said the state chapter was determined to rebuild a strong structure capable of returning the PDP to the Government House in 2026.
