Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has cautioned that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) risks continued electoral defeats if it fails to resolve its lingering internal crises.

Speaking during his monthly media parley in Abuja on Friday, Wike described the wave of defections rocking the party as embarrassing, blaming it on poor leadership and ignored warnings.

“Right from day one, I said that with what is going on, if it continues, PDP will keep losing,” Wike said. “Things are not being done properly, and we will regret it — and that’s exactly what is happening today.”

The former Rivers State governor said the leadership tussles and disunity currently affecting the PDP were not surprising, insisting that his earlier cautions about the party’s direction had come true.
“It’s very embarrassing. One of the governors was even the chairman of the convention committee. They were all playing games,” he said. “There’s nothing I said that hasn’t come to pass.”
Wike, a prominent member of the PDP G5 group that opposed the party’s national leadership during the 2023 elections, did not confirm whether he would remain in the party ahead of 2027 but stressed that reconciliation and genuine reforms were the only way forward.
