Omoyele Sowore, convener of the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest, has been rearrested by the police shortly after being granted bail by a Magistrate Court in Kuje Area Council on Friday.

Sowore, who was earlier detained for leading a protest demanding the release of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, stepped out of court after securing bail when police operatives picked him up again.

He is expected to be arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday for a separate offence.

Sowore was first arrested on Thursday at the Federal High Court premises after meeting with Kanu. He was then taken to the FCT Police Command, where he was held until Friday morning.
Police authorities accused the activist of violating a court order that barred protests around the Three-Arm Zone in Abuja.
Sowore, Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer Aloy Ejimakor, his brother, and 11 others were arrested during the October 20 protest. They were arraigned and granted bail earlier on Friday before Sowore’s fresh arrest.
