A magistrate court in Abuja has granted bail to human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, lawyer Aloy Ejimakor, and 11 others arrested during the #FreeNnamdiKanu protest in the nation’s capital.

Sowore was taken into custody on Thursday shortly after leaving the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he had led protesters demanding the release of detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The group was accused of entering “restricted areas” and inciting public disturbance during the demonstration.

Those granted bail alongside Sowore and Ejimakor include Emmanuel Kanu, Joshua Emmanuel, Wilson Anyalewechi, Okere Kingdom Nnamdi, Clinton Chimeneze, Gabriel Joshua, Isiaka Husseini, Onyekachi Ferdinand, Amadi Prince, Edison Ojisom, Godwill Obioma, and Chima Onuchukwu.
The 13 were earlier remanded on Tuesday after being arrested at various locations across Abuja.
Magistrate Abubakar Umar Sai’I’d approved their release on bail of ₦500,000 each and ordered them to present a verified National Identification Number (NIN), three years of tax clearance certificates, and their passports as part of the bail conditions.
