Sawyerr urged tertiary institutions to update and upload verified records of both new and returning students on the Student Verification Portal to ensure smooth and transparent loan processing. He stressed that accurate data from institutions was vital for students to benefit from the scheme.

He also advised schools to be flexible with registration and payment deadlines for students awaiting disbursement, to prevent disruption of their studies.

According to him, eligible applicants include newly admitted and returning students in accredited tertiary institutions, with first-year students allowed to use JAMB or admission numbers in place of matriculation numbers.

Sawyerr further called on institutions yet to commence their 2025/2026 session to submit their academic calendars to NELFUND for inclusion in the disbursement schedule and to adopt temporary registration measures for students with pending loan approvals.
