The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed claims by its National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, alleging that his signature was forged on official documents sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said the letters in question, including the one notifying INEC of the party’s national convention, were personally signed by Anyanwu.

According to Ologunagba, the documents were duly signed by the secretary shortly before the party’s 102nd National Executive Committee meeting, which took place on August 25. He added that the correspondence included formal communication to INEC announcing the party’s upcoming national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The party’s leadership maintained that there was no basis for the forgery allegation, describing it as misleading and capable of causing unnecessary tension within the PDP. The NWC reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and preparation for the convention, which it said would strengthen party unity and reposition the PDP ahead of future elections.
The party urged members to disregard misinformation and continue to support the leadership’s efforts to rebuild trust and stability within its ranks.
