The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) forum of state chairmen has suspended two of its members for alleged anti-party activities and collaboration with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to disrupt the party’s upcoming national convention.

The suspension, announced on Tuesday after a meeting at the party’s FCT secretariat in Abuja, was presided over by the forum’s acting secretary, Edward Percy Masha. Those affected are Austine Nwachukwu, chairman of Imo PDP, and Amah Abraham Nnana, chairman of Abia PDP.

According to the forum, both chairmen were accused of working with “external forces” linked to the APC to derail preparations for the national convention slated for November 15 and 16. Their decision to approach the court in an attempt to stop the event was described as a betrayal of the party’s unity and collective resolve.
A communiqué issued after the meeting and signed by Tony Aziegbemi, who now serves as the forum’s new chairman, and Masha, its secretary, confirmed the disciplinary action. Aziegbemi, who also chairs the Edo PDP, was appointed to lead the forum going forward.

The forum said discussions focused on maintaining the unity and stability of the PDP, strengthening the opposition ahead of the 2027 elections, and ensuring a successful convention. It also accused the APC of using undemocratic tactics to lure PDP governors, lawmakers, and stakeholders to defect.
“The ruling party’s conduct is a clear threat to democracy and an attempt to create a one-party state,” the communiqué stated.
In a show of solidarity, the forum passed a vote of confidence in the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), the PDP Governors’ Forum, and all statutory organs of the party. It further pledged support for the ongoing efforts to rebuild and reposition the PDP as a credible alternative in the country’s political space.
The forum urged members to remain united, calm, and committed to defending the ideals of the party despite growing political distractions and pressure from rival groups.
