Jandor Declares Bid To Succeed Sanwo-Olu In 2027

Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has announced his plan to contest the 2027 Lagos governorship election, saying his goal is to build a more inclusive and accountable government in the state.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday, the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate said his ambition goes beyond personal interest, describing it as a shared vision to make Lagos a state where innovation, opportunity, and prosperity are available to everyone.

Jandor, who now belongs to the All Progressives Congress (APC), said he aims to strengthen transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery if elected as governor. He stated that he remains committed to party unity and would abide by the internal democratic process of the APC in the buildup to 2027.

According to him, his decision to join the APC was a return “home,” as his political movement, Lagos4Lagos, was originally rooted in the state’s progressive politics. He noted that he had already contested in 2023 and intends to continue the journey from where he stopped.

He said his group would support the APC to win future elections and ensure that the party delivers tangible results for residents. Jandor maintained that the APC is now stronger and more united than in the last election cycle, with more members joining and none leaving the fold.

He argued that the PDP, where he previously ran on its platform, has failed to uphold internal discipline and party principles, making it difficult for serious politicians to remain under its banner. He alleged that many PDP leaders were involved in anti-party activities without consequence, weakening the opposition.

Jandor acknowledged that while the APC dominates Lagos politics, it would not ignore opposition movements, especially after the Labour Party’s surprise victory in the state during the 2023 presidential election. He said the ruling party would continue to study and respond to the strategies of rival groups, including those in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other alliances.

The politician said the Lagos4Lagos structure, which is spread across all 57 council areas in the state, remains strong and ready to mobilize for the APC ahead of 2027. He expressed confidence that the ruling party’s victory in the next election would be smooth and decisive, given its current level of unity and momentum.
