Former Anambra State governor Peter Obi has distanced himself from the use of artificial intelligence images bearing his likeness in product advertisements and endorsements.
He made the clarification on Saturday through a statement on his official X account.
Obi said the images, which have been widely circulated online, were created without his approval. He stressed that while he supports genuine initiatives that benefit Nigerians, no one is permitted to attach his name or image to business schemes without his authorisation.
He noted that despite repeated denials from his team, individuals and organisations have continued to use AI-generated visuals of him for marketing. This, he explained, has compelled him to caution the public once again against falling for such adverts.
The former presidential candidate urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and to disregard any promotional content linking him to products or endorsements. He restated his personal commitment to transparency, integrity, and supporting ventures that contribute meaningfully to society.
