His assurance came during a media session in Umuahia, where he addressed concerns about the perception of neglect from regional leaders.

The renewed interest in Kanu’s case followed a protest in Umuahia by Igbo elders, who accused political leaders of not doing enough. The elders visited the Abia State Government House demanding that Otti rally his colleagues to push President Bola Tinubu’s administration for Kanu’s freedom.

According to Otti, discussions with relevant authorities are ongoing, but not all details can be made public. He explained that certain engagements are best kept private to avoid disrupting the process. He maintained that the matter remains on the agenda of all South East governors.

The governor also spoke about ongoing clashes between Itu community in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State and their neighbours in Cross River. The violence, he said, stems from disputes over land and unverified claims of limestone deposits.

To manage the crisis, Abia’s Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu has been leading negotiations in Abuja with officials from Cross River and Akwa Ibom States. These talks aim to restore peace and ensure displaced residents can safely return to their homes.

Otti further restated his commitment to developing Abia despite challenges. He said his administration will remain focused on its goals and will not be distracted by misinformation, political attacks, or blackmail. He assured residents that constructive input will always be welcomed as his government works to deliver progress.
