Olubadan Urges Tinubu To Create Ibadan State Before 2027

The 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has called on President Bola Tinubu to approve the creation of Ibadan State before the 2027 general elections.

The monarch made the appeal on Friday during his coronation at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, where he officially received the Staff of Office from Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde. He told the gathering that the demand for Ibadan State remains a top priority for his people.

The ceremony drew thousands of residents, traditional rulers, and political leaders. President Tinubu arrived earlier in the day at Ladoke Akintola International Airport, Ibadan, and was received by Governor Makinde, senior government officials, and politicians across party lines before proceeding to Mapo Hall.

Governor Makinde, in his remarks, said the installation of Oba Ladoja was a source of pride for Ibadan. He expressed hope that Oba Ladoja’s reign would bring peace, unity, and progress to Ibadanland and Oyo State.

The coronation marked a historic moment for the ancient city, as Oba Ladoja became the 44th Olubadan, continuing a lineage deeply rooted in tradition and cultural heritage.
