The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria has begun an investigation into suspected impersonation during one of its recent examinations after a viral video raised questions about malpractice.

The video, which circulated widely online, showed alleged proxies caught writing exams on behalf of candidates. A man, identified only as Kay, was accused of sitting for a bank manager, while another scene featured a woman who claimed she was writing the test for a commissioner in Taraba State.

ICAN responded swiftly, reaffirming that its examination process is built on integrity and that any breach of its rules will not be tolerated. The Institute stressed that it maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward all forms of malpractice, especially impersonation, and warned that those found guilty would face strict disciplinary measures.
